It’s tough being a kid in our house at Halloween. My husband and I both love this holiday and we have forced our love on our kids since they were wee little ones.
You get thrust into pumpkins for the sake of cute pictures!
Iris at 5 months old began this tradition
Bency at 4 months old getting the pumpkin shot
Cesar at 1 month old being shoved into the pumpkin…have to keep tradition alive!
You get laid in piles of leaves for the sake of cute pictures!
Iris at 5 months for her first leaf photo shoot
Bency at 4 months for his leaf photo op
Poor Cesar at 1 month keeping up the tradition and hating every minute of it!
You are expected to help decorate the front yard with whatever crazy ideas your parents have.

The witch the kids help me make this year
When your Dad is an expert pumpkin carver; you must follow in his footsteps and create many pumpkin masterpieces starting at a very early age.

Cesar’s first year of getting to make his own pumpkin
Lastly, the hardest part of being a kid in our household is your Mom makes you wear Halloween clothes ALL month long!

All three kids in Halloween gear in 2010
All three kids sporting their Halloween outfits in 2011…Cesar still hated Halloween!
In case you missed it, check out our fun Halloween project…Spooky Barbie… we did this year right here!
Eventually they will no longer let you dress them in Halloween clothing.
I’m thinking 15 or 16 years old they’ll make me quit…right??!!! LOL!!! I know my days are numbered so I’m taking full advantage of it now!!!
Love the pics of your babies in the pumpkin! Too cute. Looks like lots of fun at your house for Halloween, Makes me want to join all the festivities! š
Thanks! Halloween is fun at our house! Christmas is much more chaotic and stressful…at least for me!!! I need to work on that!
Fun fun fun! My husband dislikes Halloween, so we have to be somewhat secretive about doing Halloween stuff. Once we get it all up in his absence, he just kind of has to deal with it.
We do a lot of things like that to my husband too!!! LOL!!!
Those pictures are hilarious!
My favorite is the first one of my daughter in the pumpkin…her arms look like the Michelin mans!!!
I must give you the highest praise for being able to still keep up with the traditions for EACH child! I know how hard that is with more and more kids! So cute how we parents “torture” our kids for the sake of a memorable picture! š You are not alone in that!
It is extremely hard to keep up with everything for each kid!! Even though Cesar didn’t want to have his picture taken in the pumpkin or in the leaves I just know if I didn’t do it someday he would say, “Why didn’t I get my picture taken in a pumpkin and you did it with the other kids?” So yes, I try…tough as it may be!!!
So cute!!
Thanks!!!
I don’t know what Cesar is so upset about in all these pictures (he does seem to enjoy painting his own pumpkin though) – I would love to partake in your Halloween festivities! Well, ok, maybe not the being shoved into a pumpkin thing, but all the rest of it looks fun. š
I know, Cesar was such a party pooper those first two Halloweens!!! LOL!! He seems to be enjoying it much more this year!! I’m thinking the ultimate Halloween feat would be to get one of those GIANT pumpkins and shove my whole family in it for a great picture!!!
Oh my gosh, I love that idea! š
Cute! We do pumpkin patch pictures every year.
How great! It’s so fun to have traditions like that!
Poor Cesar he looks none impressed doesn’t he? lol Lying in the leaves are beautiful. We don’t do the Halloween thing much over here and what children do call for treats are bitterly disappointed with the woman at No 13 who gave them money because she forgot what day it was and had nothing else to give! Enjoy. š
That is so funny!!! I have heard of worse things other than money (real fruit–how disappointing when you’re expecting candy)!! My kids caught our neighbor lady off guard one year too and she gave them a whole unopened box of graham crackers!! They were in awe!!!
Fond memories of making leaf-stuffed scarecrows. We had a decorative wishing well in our CT front yard, and my parents got dry ice for a spooky effect one year. We haven’t gotten pumpkins yet because they rot so quickly in the heat and humidity. Next week! My husband carved one based on what the sinuses look like (he’s an ENT doc)–might have to share that pic this year! Looks like you all have fun–hope Cesar enjoys it more!
Oh my goodness….you definitely have to share your husband’s pumpkin with the sinuses!!! That is hilarious!!! And I love the wishing well with the dry ice….your parents were super cool!!!
I’m contacting Social Services. LOL!
I already considered it myself when I saw my husband letting our 2 year old paint with acrylic paints! I never let the other kids start that early!!! Of course he got paint in his hair and all over the chair. I’m still working on getting it out of his hair!!!
How absolutely adorable!
Thanks!!! Halloween is the best time around here!!
Reblogged this on My Life in my 60's and commented:
This isn’t mine, but it’s so cute, I had to reblog.
Oh wow!!! Thank you so much for reblogging this on your site!! I really appreciate it!
Adore the thrust in the pumpkin photos. Anne Geddes eat your heart out!!
Thanks! One of my friends on Facebook said she did the same thing with her son when he was a baby…I told her the same thing…Anne Geddes must have inspired us!!!
There are some cute pictures and I have a feeling the kids are enjoying the holiday as well.
Yes, now that we aren’t forcing them into pumpkins I think they are having a great time! Every weekend has been something fun!
They probably even enjoyed the pumpkin part when they were at the right age.
You are the cutest and your kids are lucky to have such a wonderfully whacky mom!!
Awww…thank you….whacky is definitely the key word here!!!
I too am crazy about Halloween! My girls absolutely LOVE it as well.
I think it’s great how involved you get with your kids.
Poor Ceasar… Hopefully he’ll realize how much it is too!
Thanks!!! Cesar is having much more fun this year! This past weekend we went to a Halloween party at the YMCA and he had a blast. Plus yesterday we raked leaves and he had so much fun jumping in the leaves! I think we have converted him!!
I love it! You are so creative! I also love your blog banner. Are those vintage toys in the banner?
Thank you!! Why, yes they are vintage!! They are my Fisher Price People and Weeble Wobbles from when I was a kid. My kids now play with them! Look for an upcoming blog about them and what I will be doing with them!!! Thanks for noticing!!
